Will you give God SOMETHING … or ‘Everything’ [VIDEO]
16 June, 2016| By Deon Lundy

    Will you give Everything?

I stumbled across this song written by fellow Christian (David Dunn) entitled “Have Everything” and I thought it contained a beautiful message that every Christian would benefit to learn.

Sometimes it is easy for us (yes, even us as Christians) to get so consumed in our own goals, objectives, and desires  — that we unknowingly allow them to control and guide us (instead of God).

We often plan out our lives each day according to what WE think is best, and then we get frustrated when things don’t align the way we intended or hoped they would.

Yet we completely overlook the possibility that maybe it was GOD who purposely threw a ‘monkey wrench’ into the machinery of our plans because they did not align with his own.

However as Christians, we shouldn’t despise the occasional ‘monkey wrench’ from God because it always leads us into The LORD’s perfect will for our lives.

Take Jonah for Example: (Jonah 1)

jonahWhen the word of God came to Jonah instructing him to arise and go to Nineveh in order to preach against the wickedness and immorality taking place there — Instead of obeying, Jonah fled (because he didn’t want to do that).

So rather than obey the Voice of The LORD and warn the people of God’s coming judgment, Jonah hopped on a boat going in the opposite direction. (He allowed his own desires to take precedence)

But then God threw a Monkey wrench into Jonah’s plans (The Whale)

Take King David for Example: (2 Samuel 7)

When King David realized that God had established his Kingdom and given him rest from all of his enemies, he desired to build God a temple.

However after he had already determined and began preparations to build a temple for the LORD — God threw a Monkey wrench (The Prophet Nathan).

That very night, God’s word came to Nathan instructing him that although God was very pleased with David’s desire — the Temple would be built by David’s Son, Solomon.

    Conclusion:

Although God threw 2 slightly different ‘Monkey Wrenches’ into the plans of both Jonah and David, we can see from these 2 experiences that sometimes God has to disrupt our plans in order to establish his own.

As Christians, we must learn to submit not just ourselves to God… but also our plans, hopes, dreams, and desires.

Literally, we must let him Have Everything.

Yet even so, we can be confident that God’s plans, God’s hopes, God’s dreams, and God’s desires FOR US is far better than our own.

So from this day forward, lets hold on to nothing — Except his Promises.
